In response to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires, we are proud to announce the launch of the Zonta Club of Burbank Area Phoenix Fundraiser for Women and Girls Impacted by Los Angeles Wildfires.

This fundraiser aims to assist community organizations in recovering from the immediate and long-term effects of the wildfires. It will provide immediate aid and contribute to long-term recovery efforts, including housing costs and other urgent needs.

 

In  recent years, communities around the world have faced devastating crises, from hurricanes and floods to wildfires and extreme droughts. Despite their own challenges, Zontians from these regions—such as the Gulf Coast, struck by hurricanes, and Australia, ravaged by wildfires—have reached out to us with messages of solidarity and offers of support. Their generosity and willingness to lend a hand, even as they continue to recover themselves, is truly heartwarming. These gestures remind us of the strength of global compassion and inspire our efforts to support women in our own community who are facing the devastating impacts of wildfires.
 

Crises often place unique burdens on women, including increased caregiving responsibilities, heightened financial vulnerability, and reduced access to essential resources. Recognizing these challenges, the Phoenix Fundraiser aims to provide targeted support to help women rebuild their lives, regain independence, and strengthen their resilience. To maximize the impact of every contribution, we will partner with trusted community organizations that have a deep understanding of local needs. These collaborations will enable us to deliver meaningful, effective assistance to those most affected.

This initiative is also a step toward advancing climate justice. The escalating impacts of climate change—such as more frequent and severe wildfires—disproportionately affect vulnerable communities. By focusing on women, we address the intersection of gender equity and climate resilience, empowering them to become agents of change within their communities.
